NULITES (National Urban League Incentive to Excel and Succeed) works to prepare middle school and high school students for college enrollment and to educate parents to participate and assist students to achieve educational goals. The program offers ACT workshops, financial aid and scholarship assistance, career and post secondary education counseling, college visitation tours, college fairs, college admissions applications and other related services. Wichita/Urban League Learning Center High School Diploma Program The program is designed to assist individuals with completing their high school diploma requirements. Contact Dr. Rachel Norwood at 683-3315.
WSU Switched On Saturdays
Wichita State University's Department of Engineering sponsors free workshops for middle school students in engineering and science. Meets on occasional Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Career preparation
The YMCA Achievers Program provides programming to prepare youth 5-18 with preparation for college and professional careers. It meets every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at the Atwater Lynette Woodard Community Center located at 2750 E. 18th Street from 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m. (A light lunch is provided). Leadership-building opportunities
For 17 years, Hope Street Youth Development (HSYD) has empowered middle and high school students to think, speak, and act for themselves and their community. Join current HSYD students and other area youth for a little sugar and a lot of substance. Learn about our programs in Academics, Service Learning and Student Organizing and see why our students stay involved.
This council works with the local NAACP chapter on various projects. In addition, the Wichita NYC has a Chess Club that meets weekly, Sunday afternoons at 3pm, in our main offices at 829 N. Market St.
Real Men Inc.
This program is based at Northwest High School and has been in operation since 2005. We meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month during the school year. We have a code of conduct that participating teens pledge to follow. We monitor the progress of their grades and offer leadership-building activities both on campus and off.
We have guest speakers at every meeting. Our group averages about forty to sixty in attendance. We have a annual awards banquet every year where we give away prizes and certificates for highest GPA and most improved GPA. We also take young men on various outdoor activities

Wichita Tarheels Youth Biddy Basketball
